Research for a sustainable energy development

Short Bio

Senior Postdoctoral Researcher

Víctor Antonio de la Peña is Senior Postdoctoral Researcher of the Thermochemical Group of IMDEA Energy. Graduate in Chemistry at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and Ph.D. in Chemistry at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2003), this work was developed at the Instituto de Catálisis y Petroleoquímica, ICP-CSIC. Postdoctoral position “Juan de la Cierva” as a researcher in the chemistry faculty at the Universidad de Barcelona (UB). His main research interest is the study been focussed in Heterogeneous Catalysis, Material Science, and Surface Science fields as well as in their application in several energetic production projects, as: Synthesis of high-clean hydrocarbon to automotive (Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis) and optimization of catalytic materials for the selective transformation of biomass derived products to obtain hydrogen. At the present time he is developing new catalytic systems to carbon dioxide valorisation and hydrogen production without CO2 emission (CH4 decomposition and water-splitting). During these years, it has yielded 26 publications in prestigious international peer-reviewed journals (ej. Angew. Chemie. Int. Ed., Adv. Material, Appl. Catal. B: Enviromental, J. Mater. Chem). and the participation in 22 national and international scientific congresses. At the same time, he has been involved in several research projects. He is also a reviewer for several International journals (as J. Catal; Appl. Catal. B: Environmental; Appl. Catal. A: General, among others). The scientific relationship with the University has been complemented with a fulfilment of teaching duties. Moreover, these tasks also include the elaboration and the start up of a new Postgraduate Degree Programme (“NANOSCIENCE AND NANOTECHNOLOGY“).
