BIO_LIGWASTE: New biorefinery concept based on the production of bioethanol and other by-products from pruning waste and gardening residues

Research project with reference: RTC-2016-5281-5, coordinated by the company TECNICAS Y TRATAMIENTOS MEDIOAMBIENTALES, S.A.,  corresponding to the call 2016, within the State Program of Research, Development and Innovation Oriented Challenges of the Society under the National Plan for Scientific Research and Technological Innovation 2013-2016 (Collaboration Challenges 2016).

The BIO_LIGWASTE project has the objective of valorizing waste from the cleaning and pruning of urban gardens through the production of bioethanol and other bio-products with high added value. The achievement of this project will mean a reduction in the final cost of bioethanol by using a low cost raw material in addition to the production of lactic acid and a bio-oil obtained from the catalytic pyrolysis of the lignin residue, which can be used for the production of aromatic products or as liquid fuel.
