SA2VE: Advanced Energy Storage Systems: Applications to the railway transport and energy sectors

Singular and strategic Project with reference PSE-370000-2008-7, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation within the National Plan of Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation 2008-2011.

The objective of the project SA2VE is to develop advanced energy storage systems for the improvement of the energy management in different applications: railway transport, buildings, and uninterrupted power supply. IMDEA Energy collaborates in the design, construction and testing of a module of new generation supercapacitors, made of an ensemble of cells with performance superior to their commercial equivalents, making them to cover the gap between supercapacitors and batteries. An additional advantage is that they are made of cheap and harmless materials. The module developed will be used for energy storage and intelligent management in buildings, being a complement to other systems assessed within the project.
