Conference: Design and optimization of a continuous reactor for catalytic pyrolysis of biomass and the production of high-quality bio-oils

Short- bio

Francisco Artillo got a Degree in Chemical Engineering by the University of Málaga in 2015. After that he moved to Madrid in order to study a Master in Chemical Engineering by the Autonomous University of Madrid and the University Rey Juan Carlos. During that Master, he did an internship in Schneider Electric, where he collaborated in several petrochemical industry projects, specifically in butanol production process from propylene and syngas. After finishing this Máster, Francisco got an industrial PhD contract, directed by both PID Eng&Tech and IMDEA Energy. The aim goal of this project is to build a biofuel production and refining plant from waste biomass.

Summary

The main topic of the talk focuses on the design, building, optimization and run process of a biomass pyrolysis plant at lab scale for the bio-oil production and its subsequent refining in order to get a biofuel. Giving an insight of the design process is aimed, from de determination of the reaction conditions to the selection of the type of reactor and the rest of components of the plant.
