In February of this year (2020), the Chemical Reviews ACS journal (Impact Factor 2018, 54,301) launched the Chemical Reviews Your Favorite Review contest, in which readers of the magazine choose by open vote the ten best articles published throughout the previous year (2019). The results have been published in the issue 8 of the journal (&). The Top 10 includes:
“Solar Energy on Demand: A Review on High Temperature Thermochemical Heat Storage Systems and Materials” by Alfonso J. Carrillo (ITQ / UPV-CSIC), José González-Aguilar (IMDEA Energy), Manuel Romero (IMDEA Energy), and Juan M. Coronado (ICP-CSIC) https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.chemrev.8b00315
The article offers an extensive and critical review on thermochemical storage research mainly those aspects related to high temperature processes including concentrated solar energy. The work presents the main concepts, chemical reactions, materials and storage systems studied today. Thermochemical storage pursues thermal energy dispatching by means of reversible chemical reactions. This topic is part of the line of research focused on energy storage developed by the IMDEA Energy institute.
