The project “Oxygen19”, in which researchers from ECPU of IMDEA Energy are collaborating, has been selected in the virtual Hackathon #VenceAlVirus (#BeatTheVirus) that was held 4th-5th of April. Researchers, university students, innovative professionals and members of the civil society participated in this event focused on looking for solutions to the coronavirus crisis. On the 7th of April, a committee of experts selected 15 proposals among the 250 projects submitted, among them the “Oxygen19” project.
The aim of the Oxygen19 project is to fabricate a portable low-cost device for home oxygen therapy. It will be used for COVID patients with moderate symptoms who do not require additional treatments at the hospital. In this way, hospital resources could be dedicated to those patients in more serious or critical conditions.
In the second stage of the Hackathon #VenceAlVirus, a final pitch event will be held on the 13th of April. The goal will be to use short presentations to introduce the main benefits of the projects to an expert panel that will evaluate the proposals.
