Kick-off of two international projects on industrial decarbonization

The System Analysis Unit of IMDEA Energy Institute will collaborate with GORD, Gulf Organisation for Research and Development, in two projects of applied research of the QNRF, Qatar National Research Fund, belonging to the corporation Qatar Foundation. In the first of the projects, new formulations of low carbon footprint cement clinker will be explored, in which IMDEA Energy will be responsible for the tasks of techno-economic analysis; the second project will investigate routes of production of calcium oxide and carbon nanotubes from calcite by electrolysis in molten salts, in which IMDEA Energy will establish the environmental objectives of the technology through life cycle analysis, LCA. Both projects are part of the National Research Priorities Program, in the area of Energy and Environment, part of the National Research Strategy of Qatar.
