Last Friday 27 November, IMDEA Energy participated in a new edition of the European Researchers' Night in Madrid 2020. This eleventh edition, coordinated by the Fundación madri+d as in previous editions, was held in 9 locations in the Community of Madrid (Madrid, Fuenlabrada, Alcalá de Henares, Alcorcón, Móstoles, Leganés, Pozuelo, Villaviciosa de Odón), Buenos Aires, Ecuador and Uruguay. A total of 92 activities were organized by 41 entities linked to R&D and more than 600 researchers.
In the activity "Clean energy to save the planet", nearly 300 students from 3rd to 5th grade of Primary School enjoyed from their classrooms at 4 virtual workshops organized by the IMDEA Energy researchers and learnt, through experiments and interactive games, about the relevant role of energy for a sustainable development and climate. Students could discover the challenges in energy generation, distribution and storage, sustainable mobility or renewable energy sources.
In addition, Dr. Marta Liras, associate researcher of the Photoactivated Processes Unit at IMDEA Energy, participated in the activity "Great Scientists on the Big Screen", jointly organized by all IMDEA institutes at the Residencia de Estudiantes de Madrid. Dr. Liras showed the exciting story of Agnes Pockels, a pioneer in the field of surface tension.
