On November 17th and 18th, the Biotechnological Processes Unit of IMDEA Energy has organized the international ‘Online Conference on Biogas production and digestate valorization from wastes’ within the framework of the BIOGASMENA (ERANETMED) project.
The conference, that had more than 50 participants from Europe and from different countries in the MENA region (Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia), was divided into three scientific sessions:
- Session I: Usable substrates (organic waste or byproducts) for biogas production.
- Session II: Optimization of biogas technology (dry and wet anaerobic fermentation for organic waste and byproducts).
- Session III: Usage of digestates and nutrients. Extraction of nutrients from digestates.
In addition to the presentation of 3 renowned invited researchers in the field of biogas production and use of digestates, the conference has hosted 18 scientific presentations. Several participants from private companies whose areas of activity are widely related to the topic of the conference have also participated.
