Dr. Senthilkumar Sirugaloor
S.T.Senthilkumar received his Ph.D. in Physics at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu (India) in 2014. After that, about a year, he was worked as Research Assistant in Prof. Haitao Huang’s group at the Hong Kong Polytechnical University (PolyU), Hong Kong. Later, after two years of his postdoctoral research experiences (May 2015 - May 2017) in Prof. Youngsik Kim’s group at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), South Korea; there itself, he has worked as a Research Assistant Professor (May 2017 - August 2019). He is the author of about 30 SCI publications (approximately half of them as the first author, and a ten with a number equal to or less than five authors) with more than 1300 citations and a meritorious h-index of 20. He is also co-author of a book chapter. Particularly, he is the former receipt of prestigious Korean Research Fellowship at UNIST, South Korea. Moreover, he has participated in several projects related to the fabrication of advanced supercapacitors following two main approaches: i) development of wire/cable-type flexible supercapacitors, ii) high-performance supercapacitors using redox-active electrolytes. In recent years, his research has been more focussed on rechargeable seawater batteries and Na-ion hybrid flow batteries.
In October 2019, S.T.Senthilkumar joined in Electrochemical Processes Unit of IMDEA Energy Institute with a prestigious Juan de la Cierva Incorporación (1ST ranking position in Energy & Transport Thematic Area). In particular, he has joined the research team working in Advanced Redox Flow Batteries based on novel chemistries and engineering concepts. His research focuses on the development of novel materials and devices for energy conversion and storage.
