DI-PID: Design and optimization of a continuous reactor for the catalytic pyrolysis of biomass and the production of high quality bio-oils

Call for aid for the completion of industrial doctorates 2017 of the Community of Madrid (Ref: IND2017/AMB-7660).

The current interest of society to develop a more sustainable energy system, with reduced carbon footprint and in the context of a circular economy, is boosting the interest in the developing a new generation advanced biofuels and biorefineries.

This industrial PhD project intends to combine the experience of PID&Eng in engineering with the knowledge of thermochemical processes of biomass conversion of IMDEA to design, optimize and build a complete and compact prototype conceived for the production and refining next generation fuels at laboratory scale. The development of this system, which should combine flexibility with specific adaptations to the efficient processing of biomass, covers an obvious need of experimental research in the production of thermochemical biofuels and it can prompt an important impulse for the development of this route of residual biomass conversion.
